We have an approach that covers every aspect of the running of our business, as well as closely governing our supply-side partnerships.

 

Cars

For us, the environmental performance of our cars is more important than performance in the more traditional sense. We have strict limitations on emissions for our vehicles starting this year at 120g/km down to 105g/km of driving in 2015. We offset every gram of this carbon via an emissions trading scheme. And many of us cycle to work anyway, in which case we offer free breakfast to any staff supporting our RideIt-Scheme.

 

Office

Our office space says a lot about our attitude to corporate responsibility and to our environment. We have selected a unique building that provides considerable energy and environmental savings for the community of people who work here. Lifestyle Working is the first strata building in Australia to achieve as a 5 star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) certification and has attracted extraordinary attention from government and leading design organizations.

 

The ABGR star rating evaluates the energy efficiency of the building in terms of energy consumed and resultant carbon dioxide emissions of the lifts, car park ventilation, lighting and air conditioning etc, and we are absolutely top rated. Just a couple of ways we try to be eco-sound in our offices.

 

Water

Lifestyle Working is 100% self sustainable for non potable water with a massive 286 kilo liters, or the equivalent of approx 5 back yard swimming pools of water storage in the basement. That’s nearly 4.5 million liters of water NOT being drawn from Sydneys Warragamba dam per annum.
All the toilets within Lifestyle Working are flushed with rainwater. All the urinals in the mens bathrooms are waterless saving and estimated 1.14 million litres of water PA.

 

The drought resistant gardens are watered from the harvested rainwater. There is also a car wash in the basement that is supplied from the same tank.

 

Power

Our building has the largest amount of PV solar panels of any building in the country, to substantially generate power for the supply of the common area electricity needs such as lights, pumps, lifts, ventilation etc - a huge saving!

 

Our suite is air conditioned by variable refrigerant volume (VRV) using eco-friendly refrigerant gas to cool the air without the need for a large water-cooling tower. The rest of Lifestyle Working utilises natural ventilation and passive energy techniques, further reducing energy costs.

 

The public space is naturally ventilated with some very clever engineering and design providing airflow and convection currents.
